Dwarf Game

Dwarf Game is a roleplaying game about dwarves telling stories.

Players each create a dwarf, and then work together to recount the story of an adventure that led to one of these dwarves' heroic deaths. 

The events of the adventure are retold using:

• A story-focused encounter system that uses random tables to generate prompts that players work together to turn into interesting encounters
• A simple dice pool mechanic for overcoming challenges that rewards creative use of equipment
• A unique crowd mood system that simulates the audience's reaction to the story. If the tale gets boring, the crowd will  heckle - forcing players to exaggerate or stretch the truth to keep the audience engaged.
• Advanced drinking mechanics. Dwarves can drink to re-roll dice, but getting too drunk is risky!

Players must manage risk and reward to keep the story going as long as possible before a dwarf inevitably dies. The audience then offers the surviving dwarves gifts based on the quality of the story,  and the player of the deceased gains a special legacy quest for their next character.

Dwarf Game is a 40-page zine containing:

• A full tabletop role-playing game for 2-6 players (with options for solo play)
• Easy to use but evocative encounter generators based around a unique prompt and keyword system.
• Cave system map generators. Simple but strategic!
• Quick dwarf creation. 20 unique dwarf jobs including sculptor, wrestler, and beekeeper! Roll for socks and helmets! 
• Dwarf Interests. Gain a bonus if you find your favourite (or least favourite) thing in an encounter.
• Cave Friends. Trade with the snail scout or make a deal with the necromancer!
• Gifts and Trinkets.  A ballista! Cave limes! A stick that turns into a snake!
• Random Tavern Tables - do they have good ale in stock, or are we drinking winefungus tonight?
